Job description and duties
Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a full-time continuing Systems Analyst commencing as soon as possible. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Support Staff Salary Scale, Level 17.
Duties: Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Systems Analyst will assess, plan, integrate and deliver college-wide application systems and data to improve business processes, enhance internal communication and workflow. This position will also improve data quality and delivery, while weighing privacy concerns and meeting Information Technology standards. Duties will include but are not limited to:
Conduct system requirements analysis, develop system design, build supporting model repositories and publish for management
Liaise with each module team (HR/Payroll, Finance & Student) in the day to day and long-term Colleague operation, including streamlining business processes and record keeping standards in compliance with College and Government reporting and develop training materials for end users
Coordinate and implement special projects as assigned; including developing, managing and implementing projects and liaising with Colleague consortium, vendors and consultants
Maintain Colleague module integration, build web-based applications, extend the ERP system, manage web content platform (website and portal)
Design, develop and document scheduled and ad hoc reports in consultation with user departments, using tools such as: Web FI, Entrinsic Informer, Uniquery, ODBC, Visual Basic, and Access
Maintain an ongoing awareness of British Columbia’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FIPPA) legislation, and its impact on CMTN operations
Maintain College-owned applications, and integration with other systems including Desire2Learn Brightspace, Microsoft Office 365, and Microsoft Sharepoint
Other related duties (of similar scope and complexity) as required
A two to three-year diploma in Computer Technology (a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Bachelor of Business degree is preferred) with a systems, programming database focus along with a minimum of five years of experience working directly with business application systems including requirements analysis, development, design, and implementation. Required knowledge and skills include:
Demonstrated proficiency with business process modeling, analysis and facilitation to support business/workflow improvement and supporting system development
Expert knowledge of SQL including writing stored procedures, database triggers, and database design
Extensive experience in leading development and integration efforts as well as software implementation projects
Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, facilitation, and problem-solving skills
Experience with change management process and COBIT FIPPA or ITIL standards is an asset
Working knowledge of desktop environment, network theory, and MS Office suite
