We are actively seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our growing Financial Management and Reporting team. In this role you will develop and prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports and analyses for administrative expenses and investment related expenses (IRE), program costs, cost allocations, and consolidated operating results. In addition, you will partner with cost centre managers in preparation of their annual budgets and review their actual costs compared to plan ongoing basis. The Senior Financial Analyst will also prepare analysis for Consulting report and other variance analysis decks for the Executive Team.
Who you’ll work with
You will work with a dynamic team of financial professionals from varied backgrounds including CPA, CFA, MBA, etc. We collaborate closely with the budget coordinators, the cost centre managers, and our award-winning Member Services team.
What you’ll do
Monthly production of flash reports and administrative expenses report package, which includes a comprehensive Total Plan section, Divisional reporting, and cost allocation analysis.
Assist in the planning and co-ordination of the Plan budget and forecast process. Liaise with budget coordinators and cost centre managers within the planning, preparation, consolidation, and reporting phase of the cycle.
To maintain and develop (as required) the required reporting facilities to invoice the Province of Ontario for the matching of member contributions.
Ensure timely and meaningful analysis of the Retirement Compensation Arrangement's (RCA) operating results, financial and actuarial position, and re-forecast projected results based on the plan's experience.
Involved in the preparation and development of the budget book for distribution to Executive Team and the Audit & Actuarial Committee. Provide content and analysis for PowerPoint presentations to the Executive Team and the Audit & Actuarial Committee.
Recommend methods to automate reporting, improve the user experience during the budget cycle and provide query and reporting capabilities for the budget coordinators.
What you’ll need
Relevant university degree as well as advanced degree or designation such as MBA or CPA.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting/finance department with project experience.
Good knowledge of accounting theory and very good practical understanding of financial reporting, budgeting and cost accounting including related methodology, techniques and procedures.
Good knowledge of computerized systems to specify user systems needs and maintain system controls.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to prepare reports, including financial reports, and to liaise with contacts inside and outside the Plan.
Effective planning and organizational skills to set priorities and co-ordinate projects to meet deadlines.
