Community Connections Worker
Job Description:
The Community Connections Worker will be an employee of Northwest London Resource Centre (NWLRC). Day-to-Day supervision/consultation will be provided by the Associate Director. Supervision will be provided in the form of formal meetings as well as informal support as requested by the Community Connections Worker.
Qualifications:
Social Service Worker Diploma, Social Work Degree, related fields of expertise or extensive experience of over 3 years actively supporting newcomers and referring newcomers, refugees and immigrants to needed services.
Hours:
This is a full-time temporary contract position (37.5 hours/week) from Monday to Friday, with some evenings and weekends required. The contract will end on December 11th 2026.
Wages: $27.65 per hour.
Duties:
The Community Connections Worker is responsible for facilitating programs and activities that enhance social integration and sense of belonging for newcomers for all ages, including children, youth, families, and seniors. This role emphasizes group-based programs and experiences such as cooking programs, after school programs, informal language learning, cultural and recreational outings in London. Community Connections Worker enhances newcomers’ sense of belonging and connection to their local community through programming at both the NWLRC and local libraries at Northwest London community.
Specific Outcome:
· Children and youth improve ability to engage in social life and successfully perform in school and/or transition to adulthood
· Clients increase understanding of their community, local history, culture and services
· Clients can communicate in one or both official languages with more comfort and confidence
· Clients gain an understanding of Indigenous culture, history, and the importance of Truth and Reconciliation; newcomer and Indigenous participants develop mutual connections and awareness
