Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Psychologist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide expert psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to diverse patient populations, including children and/ or adults. The Clinical Psychologist will utilize evidence-based practices to provide assessments and clinical reports tailored to client's needs. This is a contractor position, with flexibility and a say in choice of work.
Scope of the Role
Assessment, Diagnosis & Diagnostic Communication
Provide time-limited, assessment-focused clinical services, delivered virtually across Ontario.
Included Responsibilities
- Review of the referral question and clinician-provided intake materials
- Diagnostic assessment and differential formulation
- Administration and interpretation of standardized assessment tools
- Structured and semi-structured diagnostic interviews
- Functional impairment analysis
- Risk screening at the assessment stage
- Communication of diagnostic conclusions directly to the client
- Written diagnostic summary or comprehensive diagnostic report
- Communication of diagnostic findings to the referring clinician (with informed consent)
Explicitly Excluded
- Client intake or onboarding
- Ongoing psychotherapy or counselling
- Long-term case management
- Medication management
- Crisis response beyond assessment-stage risk protocols
- Treatment implementation or progress monitoring
Service Model (Virtual-Only)
Step 1: Referral
- Referral initiated by clinician following intake
- Clear diagnostic question identified
- Relevant intake information and clinical history provided
Step 2: Diagnostic Assessment (Virtual)
Assessments are tailored to the referral question and may include:
- Structured or semi-structured diagnostic interviews
- Developmental, psychosocial, and psychiatric history review
- Standardized self-report measures
- Functional impairment analysis
- Optional collateral questionnaires (partner/family, virtual)All components are delivered via secure, Ontario-compliant platforms.
Step 3: Diagnostic Feedback & Communication
Client Feedback Session (60 minutes, virtual)
- Clear explanation of diagnostic findings in plain language
- Discussion of diagnostic rationale and differential diagnoses
- Strengths-based formulation
- Psychoeducation to support engagement in ongoing treatment
This session is diagnostic and explanatory rather than therapeutic.
Step 4: Written Diagnostic Communication
Deliverables
- Diagnostic summary or full diagnostic report (as indicated)
- Diagnostic rationale and differential considerations
- Functional implications
- Clear recommendations for treatment, accommodations, or supports
With consent, documentation is shared directly with the referring clinician to support continuity of care.
