Maria Montessori School is currently seeking a warm, collaborative, and adaptable French Language Educator to join our experienced and dedicated team.
Located in the beautiful Leaside neighbourhood of Midtown Toronto, Maria Montessori School has been providing high-fidelity Montessori education to children aged 18 months to 12 years for 50 wonderful years. As an AMI-accredited Montessori school, we are deeply committed to authentic Montessori principles, child-centred learning, and fostering a close-knit, family-oriented community for our students, families, and staff.
This unique role combines French language instruction with broader classroom and community support within the life of the school. The successful candidate will bring a genuine love of working with children, strong interpersonal skills, and the flexibility and professionalism required within a collaborative Montessori environment.
Position Overview
The French Language Educator will provide engaging French experiences for children across various age groups while also supporting the broader daily life and functioning of the school community.
As part of a small and collaborative school environment, this role requires someone who is flexible, team-oriented, and willing to support classrooms and school operations where needed. This may occasionally include classroom support coverage during staff absences or periods of operational need.
Responsibilities
- Provide engaging and developmentally appropriate French language experiences for children aged 2½–12 years
- Collaborate closely with Guides, Assistants, and Administration
- Support the Montessori philosophy and culture of the school community
- Assist with classroom support and floating coverage as needed
- Participate actively in school events, meetings, and community initiatives
- Maintain a calm, warm, and professional presence with children, staff, and families
Qualifications
- Strong written and spoken fluency in both French and English
- Ability to write professionally and collaboratively within a school setting
- Experience working with children between the ages of 2½–12 years
- Montessori experience or Montessori training is considered a strong asset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Professional, adaptable, and collaborative approach
- Genuine interest in Montessori philosophy and child development
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional learning
Requirements
- Current First Aid & CPR Certification
- Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Exceptional reliability, punctuality, and professionalism
- Strong organizational skills and calm demeanour

This is a full-time, 10-month renewable contract position from September through June.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm
