Northumberland Ferries Limited, a regional leader in the transportation industry, is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to join our team. The Maintenance Personnel is responsible for maintaining the terminal areas, oversees operational maintenance activities, supervises, and trains maintenance staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Reports To:
The Maintenance Personnel reports to the Terminal Manager.
Duties:

Water & wastewater testing as per provincial and federal regulations.

Cleaning of terminal areas ensuring that it is kept in a neat and tidy condition.

Cleaning the outside of terminal building windows.

Making regular checks of all terminal buildings, machinery, and equipment.

Maintaining daily, weekly, and monthly checklists.

Carrying out repairs and replacement of broken or missing parts of equipment, where possible.

Greasing and lubricating mechanical equipment, motors etc.

Painting and small repairs on company premises.

Mowing lawns, trimming, and pruning shrubs, weeding, and watering flower beds.

Snow removal from all walkways and doors during the winter.

Keeping immediate supervisors properly informed of all needs and repairs.

Maintaining water systems and sewage plant in proper working conditions.
- Assisting the terminal staff with crowd control during emergencies and at times of heavy traffic.

Collection and disposal of garbage.

Maintaining storage and warehouse areas in a tidy condition.

Operating the forklift.
-
Winterizing each fall and reactivating each spring terminal water systems, sewage systems, buildings and vehicle loading ramps.

Ordering supplies for the cleaning and maintenance of the terminal.

Scheduling testing of equipment such as emergency generator.
- Acting as Terminal Safety Officer and being a member of the Health & Safety Committee.

Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Abilities and Licenses:
- Minimum Waste Water Treatment Level 1.

Maintain certifications, as regulated by the government regulations.

Commitment to upgrade certifications as required.
-
Forklift certification.
-
Confined spaces and ladder safety (Company provided training).
-
WHMIS is required (Company provided training).
-
Accessibility Training is required (Company provided training)
-
Workplace Harassment and Violence Prevention Training is required (Company provided training).

Written and verbal communication skills, including conflict resolution, are sufficient to perform the position's duties.

H2O Certification.
-
Experience in the marine industry.
-
Valid STCW certification considered an asset.
Working Conditions:
Maintenance Personnel can expect to work shifts as per the Collective Agreement. The work takes place on land, in various weather conditions where the environment may be either hot or cold. Most of the time is spent standing, with regular walking, kneeling and moderate lifting.
