Our team of health professionals includes employees, doctors, researchers, learners and volunteers that provide the health care or services you may need. This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.


Reporting to the Food Services Supervisor, the Utility Worker assists supervisory and skilled food service personnel in the preparation and serving of food for patients, staff and visitors.


  • High School Graduation or equivalent (or currently enrolled) required.
  • Recognized Food Safety and Sanitation Course required or willingness to obtain within six (6) months.
  • Food service experience preferred.
  • Ability to interact professionally with patients, families, other health care providers and staff with a pleasant and
cooperative attitude.

  • Physical and mental capabilities to perform the duties of the position which include: lifting and standing for long periods
as well as working flexible hours and dealing with stressful situations.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to patients, staff, and the DHA is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to function well as a team member required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressures of time limitations is required.
  • Data entry skills considered an asset.
  • Previous work attendance may be considered.
  • Ability and availability to work all shifts including weekend and rotating shifts.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
Hours of Work

  • Two (2) Regular, full-time positions; 75 hours bi-weekly
Salary Information

$16.6707 - $17.3654 hourly

This is a Support bargaining unit - CUPE position. Preference is given to bargaining unit employees for Unionized positions.
