As a Casual Youth Care Worker (On-Call) for our therapeutic programs in North Vancouver, you will have the opportunity to be a part of our team that provides support, care, and mentorship to youth with complex mental health and behavioural challenges. A variety of shifts are available, allowing you to work around school, family, or other obligations.

Candidates must be available to work in Burnaby. Other locations include: Vancouver, North Vancouver, Richmond, and Surrey.

Qualifications:
Ability to meet our Relief/Casual Team Guidelines and Expectations which includes availability requirements for weekends and on-call shifts
High school diploma
Previous work experience in the field with at-risk youth
Experience working with youth with aggression
Experience or knowledge of trauma-informed care
Ability to set strong boundaries
Experience doing youth outreach
Knowledge regarding brain injury and higher rates of impulsivity emotional dysregulation, processing disorder, lower ability to evaluate risk and diminished critical thinking skills
Knowledge of neuro-cognitive disorders and presentation
Experience working with clients with self-injurious behaviour
Understanding of attachment disorders
Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check and Ministry of Children and Family Development consolidated check (takes up to 6 weeks to process so please plan accordingly)
Clear and concise written and verbal communication
Minimum Class 7N BC Driver's License (Class 5 preferred) and acceptable driving record
Proof of COVID-19 double vaccination record or exemption from the provincial health authority

Maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
Building positive working relationships with the youth, their families, community members, and other professionals (e.g. social workers, probation officers)
Facilitating recreational and/or educational activities
Encouraging and modeling acceptable social standards and setting and maintaining appropriate limits
Collaborating with the clinical team and providing input into assessments and youth care plans
Performing household maintenance duties, preparing meals, administering medication

Salary: $21.68-$22.25/hour + 4% vacation pay on each pay cheque
