We are looking for a leader who will be responsible for planning, coordinating and controlling building systems maintenance activities and managing the site based minor capital construction program.

Why this role is important?

You will have an opportunity to manage the facilities maintenance and operations of the second largest hospital in BC. Surrey Memorial Hospital (SMH) first opened in 1959, and has undergone a redevelopment and expansion over the recent years. SMH provides a full range of hospital services to a community of over 600,000 people from Surrey to Delta and from Langley to White Rock.

Your strong supervision skills will help lead our journeyman in a variety of trades. You will have a focus on overseeing carpenters, locksmiths, painters and general maintenance workers pertaining to the daily maintenance requirements serving the Surrey Memorial Hospital.

Build on your education and career experience as you:
Lead the development and supervision of day-to-day maintenance activities
Coordinate the day to day repair/maintenance and installation activities associated with carpentry, door hardware, wall/floor/ceiling finishes, millwork, building envelope, clinical rolling stock, sheet metal/welding, plumbing, furniture and internal /external grounds keeping elements
Ensure the smooth functional operation of the campus buildings, designated Hospital equipment and systems, all in alignment with regulatory requirements in order to maintain a high standard of healthcare business continuity
Lead and directly supervise the activities of designated maintenance personnel and external contractors whilst keeping the clinical staff informed
Liaise with colleagues in the industry to share information and establish/review benchmarks to review productivity
Provide professional Facilities expertise to clinical staff, other health care organizations, and negotiate with contractors, regulatory bodies, manufacturers and/or suppliers
Are you passionate about joining our team? We will be looking for you to have:

Trades qualification- carpentry
Five to seven years’ recent, related experience
Two (2) years direct supervisory experience
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be acceptable
This Regular Full Time opportunity will be based at the Surrey Memorial Hospital in Surrey, B.C.
