What you’ll be doing
- Operating heavy equipment safely and productively - dozer, excavator, loader, articulated rock truck, or compactor depending on your experience and the project scope
- Cutting and filling to grade, loading trucks, building haul roads, stripping topsoil, trenching, and backfilling
- Daily walk-arounds, greasing, and reporting maintenance issues before they become breakdowns
- Working with the foreman, grademan, and other operators to keep the site moving and keep everyone safe
- Following the site safety plan and pre-job hazard assessments — every shift, every time
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years running heavy equipment on civil/earthworks sites (subdivision, road, commercial pad, pipeline ROW, or similar)
- Understands grade, drainage, and how to keep production up without tearing equipment apart
- Valid BC driver’s licence & reliable transportation - Class 5 minimum; Class 1 or 3 with Air a strong asset
- Reliable, on time, and willing to put a shift in
- Comfortable with reading and understanding project drawings
Nice to have
- GPS or 2D machine control experience (Trimble, Topcon, or Leica)
- Current safety tickets: First Aid (Level 1 minimum), WHMIS, and ideally Ground Disturbance Level 2. CSO/NCSO is a plus
