SUMMARY
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing all personnel functions within the company in a unionized environment in Cambridge Ontario Canada including the planning, development, and implementation of HR policies and procedures at both strategic and tactical levels. This role involves collaboration with all functional areas of the organization and encompasses managing employee benefits, workers' compensation, performance management, health and safety, and addressing risks related to employment practices. The HR Manager ensures compliance with Canadian labour laws and collective bargaining agreements while aligning with the company's policies, ethical standards, and social responsibilities. Other responsibilities include overseeing environmental compliance, payroll, pension, benefits, and legal compliance. Please note, this is an on-site position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct all aspects of human resource functions of the company.
- Execute plans and activities within budget and timelines while reflecting company values.
- Provide leadership to the HR team and build organizational capability and effectiveness.
- Provide HR advice and counsel to the management team on human resource issues.
- Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce human resources policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
- Develop and implement recruitment (union and non-union) processes to proactively attract and retain high performance talent for the organization including sourcing, hiring and onboarding.
- Coordinate and lead talent development and succession planning.
- Oversee compensation programs to ensure regulatory compliance, competitive rewards programs and effective talent retention and attraction strategies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between management and union representatives.
- Facilitate effective communication and negotiation on labour-related issues.
- Develop and implement a labour relations strategy to achieve fair and equitable collective agreement administration, grievance, mediation and arbitration processes and collective bargaining.
- Prepare for and participate in collective bargaining negotiations. Assist in the development and implementation of strategies to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Develop, lead, and coordinate Human Resources policies and programs, including labour and employee relations, performance management, organizational development, recruitment, health and safety, environmental compliance, payroll, pension, benefits and legal compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess a college diploma or bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, along with at least 5 years of progressive human resources leadership experience within a manufacturing environment. A CHRL designation or evidence of working towards it is preferred. Additionally, the candidate should have in-depth knowledge of labor relations, including collective agreement administration, collective bargaining, and related processes.
SALARY RANGE: $97,750 - $120,750
