The digital merchandise specialist is an extension of the brand and sales teams with a role to ensure the best possible brand experience as consumers research, shop and purchase our portfolio of products online. They serve a key role to ensure that our digital shelf is best-in-class, not only our owned sites but with retailer partners and content syndicated services (webcollage).

They will manage the entire portfolio of Helen of Troy Health & Home products. They will be responsible for understanding retailer platforms, loading new products as well as maintaining and optimizing existing items. They will work closely with the sales team to understand retailer’s ecommerce strategy and platforms, then develop and execute a strategy for our products to maximize sales.

The ideal candidate must be highly communicative, autonomous, proactive, collaborative and creative.


Sales Team Support: The digital merchandise specialist will serve as the sales team’s key point of contact for all things related to the digital shelf and online content across our portfolio of products. This includes weekly/bi-weekly meetings, manage project lists, new products and timelines. The digital merchandise specialist will also sit in on key retailer meetings and provide presentation support as needed.
Digital Shelf: Accurately enter and maintain ALL product information (pricing, sales copy, sku numbers, images, videos, buying guides, meta descriptions, taxonomy, etc) in our owned websites and retailer portals. Digital merchandise specialist will work with key retailer buying teams to ensure correct and timely set up of all new products. They will also notify brand team if gaps in digital assets are present.
Audits: Conduct monthly audits of retailer partner sites for accuracy in pricing, availability, images and product information.
Outside Agencies: Digital merchandising specialist will need to collaborate with key agency partners including site design, search, and internal brand teams to assist with execution of digital campaigns. Digital merchandising specialist will manage WebCollage vendor relationship. They will also ensure that correct digital assets are uploaded for our products.
Analysis & Reporting: Analyze site metrics (Helen of Troy and Retailer partners) using analytic tools (Google Analytics and Omiture) to develop monthly reports and provide recommendations to improve conversion rates and drive revenue growth across assigned sites. In addition, provide monthly reports on new product status, content updates, user ratings & reviews, promotions, retailer changes that sales can use to keep account updated.
Content Strategy & Development: Digital merchandise specialist will work closely with digital marketing team, sales and brand team to develop a strategy for each retailers’ platform to optimize our digital shelf. They will be responsible for development and maintenance of enhanced product content pages for all products within key retailers owned portals. This will require them to understand the limitations and requirements around claim language and brand guidelines.
Digital Trends: The digital merchandise specialist will stay up to date on trends and changes within the ecommerce and retail landscape in order to be able to provide a point of view on how our digital efforts could be improved. This includes regular research and audits of the marketplace and competitive sets.
Brand Equity: Demonstrate brand stewardship across all materials working closely with the digital marketing, brand, and creative teams to ensure that all efforts are on brand and on strategy.
Websites: Will assist the brand teams with the development and maintenance of branded websites to insure product related (including creation and support of where to buy, shopper guides and ecommerce information on owned websites) content is up to date and SEO strategy is optimized.
Licensing: The digital merchandising specialist needs to have in-depth knowledge of licensing guidelines, ensure that all content follows the guidelines and is approved through appropriate submission process.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.


3+ Years professional work experience in marketing and/or ecommerce merchandising of highly visible online customer experiences.
Experience writing for the web
Understanding of retailer ecommerce landscape

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas and information clearly.
Strong project and time management skills, able to be self-directed and proactively manage and direct multiple projects simultaneously.
Basic understanding of website development and content management systems
Knowledge of SEO best practices and their implementation
Basic understanding of marketing concepts and consumer behavior
Some experience with Online Analytics (Google Analytics and Omiture)
Highly organized and detail oriented
Proven track record to achieve goals
Upbeat, personable, positive, can-do attitude
General computer skills must have solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office
External agency management oversight experience preferred
