Penfor Construction offers “turn-key” General Contracting for the construction of multi-family, agricultural and commercial facilities. Our team will design, estimate and oversee complete construction, ensuring that the project is completed on time and on budget.
We are currently looking for a Job Cost Accountant to join our team. This position will be based out of our Winnipeg, MB. office and will spend a significant portion of time on-site in the Winnipeg area working with Project Managers.
The Duties:
- Prepare monthly project cost reports, variance analyses, and management summaries
- Support project billings, revenue recognition, cost accruals, and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting
- Meet regularly with project managers to review their budgets, and provide clarification, changes and corrections as identified
- Contribute to project cash flow forecasts and financing requirements
- Identify cost-related risks and opportunities
- Utilize ERP and project management systems to ensure accurate, consistent financial data
- Support external audits by providing documentation and financial analysis as required
- Assist with continuous improvement of cost control processes and reporting standards
- Cross-train and provide operational and problem-solving support to the general accounting team
The Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in cost control, project accounting, or financial management
- CPA candidate or designation is considered an asset
- Experience in the construction industry preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Experience working in ERP Software
- Mathematical and analytical skills
- Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines
- Excellent internal/external customer service orientation and good teamwork skills
- Ability to maintain confidential information
