Position Summary
The Calgary Stampede is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Information Technology team in the role of DBA Database Architect. The DBA Database Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing complex database systems. You will work closely with development teams, system administrators, and business analysts to ensure that database solutions meet the organization's needs.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Database Architecture:
- Design and implement database architectures, including data models, normalization, and performance tuning.
- Develop and maintain database standards and guidelines.
- Evaluate and select appropriate database technologies and platforms.
- Database Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain database systems.
- Perform routine database maintenance tasks, such as backups, restores, and security updates.
- Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Data Modeling:
- Create and maintain data models that accurately represent the organization's business processes.
- Work with business analysts to gather and analyze data requirements.
- Performance Optimization:
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in database systems.
- Tune database queries and indexes to improve performance.
- Security:
- Implement and maintain database security measures, including access controls, encryption, and auditing.
- Respond to security incidents and breaches.
- Data Migration:
- Plan and execute data migration projects, including data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
- Data Governance: Lead the development and implementation of data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a DBA or Database Architect.
- Strong understanding of database concepts, including relational databases, data warehousing, and NoSQL databases.
- Proficiency in SQL and a scripting language (e.g., Python, Perl).
- Experience with database platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of data modeling tools and techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in database administration (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate).
- Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
- Knowledge of data analytics and business intelligence tools.
