We are currently seeking an entry-level Diamond Setter – Level 1 to join our Setting department. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, patient, precise, and comfortable working with small parts, powdered materials, molds, and hand tools.
Position Summary
The Diamond Setter – Level 1 is responsible for assembling graphite molds and preparing diamond impregnated metal-bond drilling and grinding tools for furnace processing.
This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong hand-eye coordination, and the ability to perform careful, repetitive work while following written instructions and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret written work instructions.
- Assemble and prepare grinding tools for furnace processing.
- Assemble graphite molds for drilling bit products.
- Fill, set, and prepare drilling bit products for furnace processing.
- Work with powdered metal materials and small hand tools.
- Clean grinding tool molds.
- Follow company Safe Work Procedures and Workplace Safety and Health requirements.
- Support product quality by ensuring work is completed accurately and according to requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 0–2 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience or demonstrated ability working with small parts is considered an asset, such as electronic board assembly, sewing, crafting, jewelry work, model assembly, or similar detailed hand work.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while sitting for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in close proximity to other employees.
- Ability to work with powdered metal materials and small hand tools.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Must currently reside in Winnipeg, Manitoba, or be able to reliably commute to Dimatec’s Winnipeg facility.
- Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of the above qualifications.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong manual dexterity and exceptional hand-eye coordination.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work meticulously and consistently on repetitive tasks.
- Knowledge of weighing tools and measuring devices is considered an asset.
- Comfortable using small hand tools.
- Demonstrated mathematical skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions.
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
