Great opportunity! We are currently seeking a full-time, permanent Lead Mechanical Engineer to assist with day-to-day operations for our engineering department.
The role requires the ability to adapt and will include a variety of tasks with a main focus of all mechanical engineering aspects. The ideal candidate is hands on, thrives on detail and accuracy, able to manage their time, and able to take direction or take the lead. The successful candidate will leverage previous experience for the development and carrying out of a variety of challenging and new concept projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of mechanical engineers, mechanical engineering students, and technical staff.
- Lead and prepare the design, development, and continuous improvement of food service equipment.
- Ensure all engineering projects meet customer technical specifications, cost targets, and production timelines.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to optimize product manufacturability and reliability.
- Oversee and prepare product business cases, design phases, prototyping, testing, validation, and ongoing improvement initiatives.
- Drive innovation by applying advanced engineering principles and keeping abreast of industry trends and regulatory standards.
- Maintain and enforce strict adherence to safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Support troubleshooting and timely resolution of complex mechanical issues across product lines.
- Prepare and coordinate in-house testing to meet ETL, CE, NSF, UL, and Energy Star certification requirements.
- Prepare, review, and maintain detailed technical documentation, drawings, and engineering reports.
Skills and Qualifications (General requirements):
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years of mechanical engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Proven experience designing and developing industrial food service equipment or similar mechanical products.
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and ability to interpret wiring diagrams.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and assembly techniques.
- Solid experience in creating, managing, and reviewing Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and technical judgment.
- Effective leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards in food service equipment manufacturing is a plus.
- Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing mechanical systems and products
- Excellent math skills: ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems
- General understanding of electrical & control systems
- Understanding of machine operations
- Experience in working and/or designing heat exchangers, boilers, food equipment, sheet metal products (asset)
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability
- Ability to work under pressure
- Must be self-motivated and a great team worker
