Job Summary

We are seeking a Junior Bookkeeper with an aptitude for learning and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must have some experience or training in posting journal entries and calculating and preparing cheques for payroll.

BC Traditional Homes is a Builder and Project Manager primarily in the residential sector of Greater Victoria and beyond. Our clients range from large custom homes, multi-family developments, as well as commercial work.

The primary position of the Junior Bookkeeper is to act as a relief for when the Senior Bookkeeper is out of the office for vacations, as well as to assist in times of heavy workloads. When the candidate is not working with accounts payables/receivables they will be working with a team that includes: Office Manager, Estimator/Project Coordinator, Project Managers as well as Superintendents in the field, acting as an Administrative Assistant. To be successful as an Administrative Assistant, candidates should have a high level of organization and be comfortable with computers in order to produce purchase orders, follow up on emails, and maintain project documents.

Responsibilities and Duties

Duties will include:

-Accounts payable/receivable

-Payroll

-Assisting in month-end reports

-Assisting Estimator in costing and cost controls

- Assisting Project Coordinator with bid acquisitions

-Assisting Project Managers

-General Administrative duties as required

Qualifications and Skills

You will have at a minimum, an entry-level knowledge of bookkeeping with experience in software accounting

Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel & Word

Sage 100 experience would be an asset

Post Secondary education.
