Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Care Assistants to provide high-quality support to residents in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home care settings. The ideal candidate will have experience working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring specialized care such as dementia or hospice support. This role involves assisting with daily activities, medication management, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for those in your care. A strong commitment to patient well-being and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this position.
Duties
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols
- Support patients with meal preparation and feeding as needed
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance quality of life
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light cleaning and sanitation tasks
- Monitor residents’ health status and report any changes to healthcare professionals
- Support individuals with dementia or cognitive impairments through specialized care techniques
- Assist with mobility and transfer activities, including heavy lifting when necessary
- Document care provided and update patient records accurately
- Collaborate with nursing staff and case managers to develop personalized care plans
Qualifications
- Prior experience in nursing homes, senior care, home care, or assisted living environments preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, and basic patient care procedures
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or dementia is highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically assist residents as needed
- Strong communication skills and compassionate nature
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Certification in caregiving or relevant training is a plus but not required
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends or holidays if necessary
