The Counter Sales Representative is an integral function in the branch’s ability to provide excellent customer service to all of Best’s clients. The position operates in a fast-paced, dynamic, rewarding environment and will assume responsibility for all counter sales and product returns while providing expertise as a member of the customer service team. This position will include Saturdays and have a day off in lieu of the Saturday throughout the week.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Offering exceptional customer service at our counter and over the phone
- Responding to inquiries and processing incoming calls and orders
- Entering orders into the system
- Sourcing materials for customers when currently not in stock
- Providing product information, pricing quotations, and follow-up on quotes
- Offering technical expertise on products to purchasers
- Developing and maintaining positive customer relationships
- Counter Sales and handling returns as required
- Picking Priority orders
- Closing orders and stocking bins
- Keeping counter and sales area clean
- Merchandising and showcasing product
- Other duties as required
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Exceptional customer service
- Ability to assess customer needs, resolve issues quickly, and find solutions that balance customer satisfaction
- Ability to develop long-term relationships and generate referrals from your customers
- Strong communication skills
- Impeccable organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Time management & multitasking skills to serve several customers at the same time
- Excellent computer skills (Word, Email, etc.)
- Self-motivated; able to function effectively both independently and as a member of a team
- Proven ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced work environment
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Minimum grade 12 education required
- Candidates should possess a strong work ethic and desire to learn and succeed
- Post-Secondary courses in Plumbing or Heating are considered an asset
- Skilled in serving and negotiating with institutional and industrial purchasers, plumbing contractors, and the public
- Minimum 1 year knowledge of the plumbing and heating industry
