OCI Systems is seeking a skilled and motivated Telecom Field Technician as we expand our service offerings. We are now the preferred service partner to a local internet service provider (ISP), providing installation and troubleshooting services. We also install and service structured cabling, networking equipment (including managed WiFi), security cameras, and access control systems.
As a Telecom Field Technician, your primary responsibilities will the installation and troubleshooting of internet services, security systems and cabling in multi-family residential, commercial and industrial environments. The Technician will work closely with clients and remote support staff to deliver high-quality service and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and troubleshoot ISP customer premises equipment (CPE), related networking and structured cabling equipment.
- Install, test, maintain, repair and dress communication cable including voice, data, coaxial and fibre optic cable.
- Install / deploy and troubleshoot wireless access points, voice over IP (VoIP) telephones, and paging systems.
- Assist with installation and maintenance of security cameras and access control systems.
- Provide preliminary troubleshooting of IP-based security cameras, network video recorders and video management systems.
- Ensure installations meet codes and industry standards for low-voltage cabling and networking systems.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely project completion while adhering to safety standards.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns during installation processes.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and service calls for future reference.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in technology relevant to installation practices.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience with installation and troubleshooting of networking equipment and structured cabling.
- Strong understanding of networking principles and best practices in networking installations.
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes related to low-voltage cabling and networking systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring schematics, and system diagrams.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and diagnostic equipment for troubleshooting purposes.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients and team members.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining clear and professional communication with clients and colleagues.
- Professionally fluent in English.
Licenses & Certifications
- BC Driver's License (Class 5 or higher) required.
- Must have or able to obtain a BC Security Worker License (closed circuit television installer and electronic locking device installer).
- Field Safety Representative (FSR) certificate an asset.

Pay: $28.00-$37.00 per hour
