We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Substitute / On-Call Early Childhood Educator to join our educational team. This role involves providing high-quality care and instruction to young children in various classroom settings on an as-needed basis. Responsibilities
- Step into classrooms to support lead teachers during their absence, ensuring continuity of instruction and care.
- Implement age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with children, staff, and parents to support children's needs and progress.
- Assist with classroom routines such as meal times, nap times, and transitions between activities.
- Support children with diverse needs, including those with disabilities or special education requirements.
- Follow lesson plans provided by lead teachers or develop engaging activities when necessary.
- Document observations of children's progress and behavior as required.
Requirements
- Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff.
- Familiarity with special education needs and working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments and routines.
- Passion for early childhood development and creating a positive learning experience for young children.
- Must be reliable, flexible, and able to work on short notice as an on-call substitute.
- Prior classroom experience or certification in early childhood education is desirable but not mandatory.

What You'll Do
As a Substitute Educator, you play an essential role in ensuring continuity of care and learning across our academy. You'll step confidently into classrooms, building meaningful relationships with students while supporting each classroom's routines and educational programming.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating a warm, safe, and welcoming environment where every student feels supported and valued.
- Supporting daily classroom routines, learning experiences, and transitions with confidence and consistency.
- Delivering high-quality care while maintaining the standards and expectations of Blüm Academy.
- Collaborating closely with Primary Educators and classroom teams to ensure seamless continuity throughout the day.
- Encouraging student independence, exploration, creativity, and problem-solving through thoughtful interactions.
- Maintaining engaging, organized, and beautiful classroom environments that reflect Montessori and Reggio Emilia principles.
- Supporting social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through responsive and respectful interactions.
- Upholding all licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and Blüm policies and procedures.
- Providing flexible support across classrooms and age groups as operational needs require.

- Alberta Early Childhood Educator Level 1, 2, or 3 Certification.
