Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Shared Health is recruiting for the permanent full-time position of Secretary to provide administrative support to the Pathology Department at St. Boniface Hospital.

Under the general supervision of the Pathology Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for performing various secretarial duties related to the Pathology Department, including typing/word processing, scheduling and attending meetings, recording minutes, assembling budget information and distributing computerized billings, maintaining weekly payroll cards, filing, photocopying, assembling teaching materials, as well as other related duties, as assigned.

The individual must have proven organizational and prioritization skills and have the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as mathematical aptitude are required. Candidates must have demonstrated problem-solving skills and be able to effectively contribute in a team environment. The position will require that effective working relationships are established and maintained with all levels of staff and the general public. The ability to maintain a high-level of confidentiality is essential.

Qualifications include the completion of high school, Manitoba Standards, and successful completion of a recognized medical secretarial program. The ideal candidate will have mathematical aptitude, dictatyping skills, will type at a minimum of 55 wpm and will have demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint as well as computerized calendars. Two years related secretarial experience, preferably in a health care setting, is required. A suitable combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Anticipated Shifts: Days/Evenings; 38.75 hours weekly; 7.75 hour shifts
Salary: $18.722 - $21.704 per hour, as per UFCW contract

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (Including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
