This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.
Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the unit 7.3 clerk is responsible for greeting patients and visitors, working as part of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient flow, procurement of health records, registering patient admissions and ongoing patient movement throughout the organization, coordination and booking of procedures and patient transport and communicating these plans to patients and the healthcare team, assisting in general organization, for maintaining accurate unit statistics as required. These duties could change to adapt to the needs of the unit.
The position may be required to provide assistance and coverage for other units throughout the organization.
- Grade XII plus one year related experience or one year related program
- Medical Terminology course preferred
- Experience using PHS and STAR
- Computer experience (Windows, MS Office) and typing/keyboarding are required Minimum of 40 wpm with accuracy
- Customer service courses an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Co-ordination, organization and decision making abilities must be present
- Ability to function independently and as a member of a team
- Ability to work in a high volume and high pressure setting
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

$20.0923 - $21.9129 Hourly
