The Gas Fitter Class A (GFA) is an important resource within Pacific Spray Booths (PSB) in commissioning, servicing and troubleshooting the regulated equipment sold, installed and maintained by PSB for its customers and industry partners. In their role, the GFA will help plan and undertake gas work for booth installations and services. Their responsibility extends to working with the Service Coordinator to diagnose and repair existing equipment, as well as liaising with the Project Coordinator to complete installation of new equipment. The GFA is the on-site supervisor for technicians assigned to support their work.
The GFA is a key member of the PSB operations group. In the course of their work, the GFA incorporates and promotes PSB’s vision and business objectives, executes their duties in accordance with PSB’s policies and procedures, and helps ensure compliance with governing bodies and regulations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of a recognized Gas Fitter Class A education program
- Valid Gas Fitter Class A License recognized by Technical Safety BC
- Minimum 5 years experience as a Gas Fitter Class A
- Thorough and current knowledge of the standards, practices, regulations, methods, tools and equipment required in the field of gas fitting
- Minimum 2 years experience commissioning, troubleshooting and servicing direct and indirect gas-fired make up air units and batch ovens
- Ability to read electrical schematics and logic drawings
- Bonus if familiar in industrial controls and PLCs
- Valid class 5 driver’s license with a Driver’s Factor Report reflecting a history of capable and responsible driving
- Fall Protection and First Aid
- Strong customer service skills
- Good command of the English language, both oral and written
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team to meet business objectives
- Ability to work with industry related applications and software
- Ability to travel out of GVRD
- Availability to work during a standard weekday, with some flexibility to work occasionally on weekends when mutually agreed in advance.
Applicants with Gas Fitter Class B may be considered if
- apprenticing as Class A
- engaged in Class A coursework, and/or
- have applicable experience.
DUTIES:
The employee conducts their work as a skilled tradesperson who installs, inspects, repairs, and maintains natural gas appliances and equipment in and commercial buildings. Tasks include installing gas piping, regulators, heating units, and servicing gas appliances, while adhering to strict safety regulations and codes.
The in the capacity as a Class A Gas Fitter, the position is responsible for:
- the planning, resourcing and install of gas piping and equipment at new booth installations
- obtain and coordinate permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
- diagnosis and service of booth equipment as requested by customers
- support the flow of install and service work complete from intake to invoicing.
- liaise with customers to deliver excellent customer service with clear communication
- report regularly on the status of installations and services
- utilize software and applications to record and report work
- work collaboratively to provide estimates
- follow safety protocols and demonstrate safety leadership in all tasks
- supervise and guide the work of PSB employees as required
Pay: $40.00-$60.00 per hour
