Aplin has partnered with a prominent education facility in Halifax to hire a temporary finance professional to assist with Accounting Support. This position is a 3-month part-time contract that includes flexible hours and an immediate start as the organization looks to add support during organizational changes.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily bank reconciliations and ensure financial records are accurate and up to date.
- Process payments through RBC's online banking platform in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform data entry and post financial transactions within Sage.
- Monitor and respond to general finance and accounting inquiries received through shared inboxes and other channels.
- Compile and organize questions and requests, escalating more complex matters to the Finance Manager as required.
- Support day-to-day accounting operations while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Work independently to identify and resolve issues, escalating only when necessary.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of accounting, finance, or bookkeeping experience.
- Experience with Sage accounting software.
- Experience processing payments through online banking platforms (RBC experience preferred).
- Exposure to payroll systems such as ADP is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and troubleshoot issues with minimal supervision.
- Enjoys working with numbers and thrives in a fast-paced accounting environment.
- CPA designation is not required; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.
