Tower Arctic Ltd. is a member of the Tower Group of Companies, with over 80 years of experience delivering heavy civil construction projects across Canada’s Arctic. We specialize in infrastructure, airports, utilities, marine works, mining, and remote construction projects throughout Nunavut.
As our company continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Controller to lead our day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting across multiple companies. This is a hands-on leadership role that works closely with ownership and plays an important part in maintaining the financial health of our organization.
Responsibilities
The Controller will be responsible for managing the full accounting cycle, including:
- Accounts payable and vendor management
- Accounts receivable and collections
- Payroll processing through ADP Workforce Now
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Month-end and year-end close processes
- Financial reporting and general ledger management
- Budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
- Intercompany accounting and reconciliations
- GST/HST filings and regulatory compliance
- Banking, financing and lender reporting
- Corporate filings and annual compliance
- Working closely with external accountants, auditors, banks and professional advisors
- Administration of accounting systems including QuickBooks Online, ADP Workforce Now, online banking platforms and other financial systems
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes through automation, AI tools and technology
Qualifications
- CPA designation is preferred (or actively working toward a CPA designation)
- Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience managing the full accounting cycle
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles
- Experience with payroll processing
- Experience preparing financial statements and month-end reporting
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
- Experience with QuickBooks Online
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Experience working with multiple companies or intercompany accounting is considered an asset
- Experience using AI-powered tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude or similar platforms to improve productivity, reporting and business processes is considered a strong asset
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset; English will be the primary working language
