Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Excavator Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently on various construction projects. The Excavator Operator plays a vital role in ensuring project accuracy, safety, and timely completion. Candidates with mechanical knowledge and experience in commercial driving are highly preferred. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse construction sites, contributing to infrastructure development and site preparation.
Responsibilities
- Operate excavators to dig residential basements in a timely manner.
- Layout and trench in residential water/sewer/storm lines as per drawings.
- MUST understand how to read locates
- Experience in Residential shallow utility installation is considered an asset
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal functioning and safety standards.
- Coordinate with project managers and team members to execute tasks efficiently while adhering to safety protocols.
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues and perform basic repairs when necessary.
- Follow all safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation and construction site protocols.
- Must be able to cut grade within a 1/2 inch of design grade
Skills
- Proven experience operating excavators with proficiency in Caterpillar machinery or similar brands.
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation including dozer, loader, backhoe, grader, and paving machinery.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred for transporting equipment or materials between sites.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety standards on construction sites.
- Physical stamina to operate heavy machinery for extended periods in various weather conditions. Pay: $35.00-$42.00 per hour
