This position is available for Moutcha Bay Resort.
The Moutcha Bay Resort Sous Chef is part of the Food and Beverage leadership team at Nootka Marine Adventures and is responsible for the leadership of the food and beverage team and execution of our guest and camp menus in conjunction with the Head Chef and Camp Cook.
The successful incumbent has previous industry experience, particularly in hotels and resorts, and is incredibly organized. A desire to live and work with a phenomenal team in a remote environment will contribute to your success in this position.
Anticipated start date: April 20th 2021
Anticipated end date: September 30th 2021
Contract length subject to change based on the demands of the season.
Position Requirements include but are not limited to:
Proven experience as a Sous Chef
A service driven individual dedicated to the guest experience and cleanliness
An attention to detail and a commitment to safety and professionalism
Experience in a leadership position in a commercial kitchen
Ability in dividing responsibilities and monitoring progress
Up-to-date with culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes.
Good understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
Ability in training, leading and building a diverse team to established specs and standards.
Outstanding communication and leadership skills, leading by example.
Outstanding collaboration with Head Chef, Resort Manager, and Assistant Resort Manager
Food Safe Certified.
Physical ability to lift 30 pounds
Physical ability to work while walking and standing for prolonged periods
Position Responsibilities include and are not limited to:
Execute guest, staff, and camp meals per the established menu's under direction from the Head Chef
Train and supervise Line Cooks, Prep Cooks, and Dishwashers
Communicate supply needs to Head Chef in a timely manner
Recommend and implement changes to continually improve the dining experience.
Assist in the development of team members to promote career advancement
Maintain effective communications through restaurant and resort
Lead the Conuma Grill back of house team on the Head Chef’s days off
Lead the Hamilton Camp kitchen on the Camp Chef’s days off
Represent the resort to suppliers, sponsors and business representatives in a professional and ethical manner.
Ensure all safety and sanitation standards are met and exceeded following guidelines from Vancouver Island Health Authority, EcoSure, and Worksafe BC.
Thoroughly clean and maintain kitchen equipment.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
