Position Summary
As our Production Planning Specialist, you will lead the development of innovative planning systems, tools, and processes, leveraging ERP technology and AI-driven solutions to build a world-class production planning function. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact by creating a dynamic 13-week rolling production plan that drives efficiency, supports growth, and enables smarter decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Scheduling
- Transform sales forecasts and customer demand into efficient production plans that support our service and growth goals.
- Develop and manage weekly and daily production schedules while balancing capacity, labor requirements, and planned downtime.
- Leverage ERP technology, data analytics, and continuous improvement principles to optimize planning performance.
Inventory & Materials Planning
- Ensure the right materials are available at the right time by managing inventory, lead times, and production requirements.
- Monitor finished goods inventory to maintain high service levels while reducing excess stock and waste.
- Support smarter inventory decisions through proactive planning and analysis.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to maximize efficiency and production flow.
- Coordinate resources and planning activities to support on-time production and customer deliveries.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives that strengthen operational performance.
Risk Management & Reporting
- Proactively identify and communicate risks that could impact production schedules, material availability, or customer commitments.
- Provide planning insights and reports that support informed business decisions.
- Monitor planning performance and drive solutions that improve reliability and execution.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support operational requirements.
Requirements Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in production planning, materials planning, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
- Experience developing and managing production schedules in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory management, capacity planning, and material requirements planning (MRP).
- Experience using ERP systems for planning and scheduling activities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in food manufacturing, dairy manufacturing, or another regulated production environment.
- Experience implementing or improving planning systems, tools, and processes.
- Experience with AI-powered planning tools, predictive analytics, or advanced planning software.
