About the Role:
Reporting to the Store Manager, the ReStore Sales Associate supports daily retail operations by processing sales transactions, assisting customers and donors, and maintaining effective communication through phone, email, and in-store interactions. The role also supports eCommerce activities, including order fulfillment and product listings.This position is responsible for donation processing, including receiving, sorting, pricing, and merchandising items to ensure a clean, organized, and shoppable store. A focus on customer service, teamwork, and adherence to health and safety standards is essential in this fast-paced, physically active environment. A key part of this role is actively communicating the mission and impact of Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver to customers, donors, volunteers, and community partners, helping to build awareness, strengthen engagement, and deepen support for the organization’s work in the community.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Operations
· responsible for accurate processing of sales transactions at the register
· monitors the ReStore general email account to respond to customer, donor and in-house communication
2. eCommerce Operations
· Monitors Shopify for online orders, processes orders and prepares orders for shipping
· Assists with the accurate creation of e-store/facebook marketplace product posts
3. Customer Service
· assists customers with their enquiries in the store, on the phone and by email through the Restore general email account
· provides superior service to commercial and individual donors and tactfully redirects non saleable donations for disposal or recycling to lower waste costs and avoid hazardous materials
· Maintains a working knowledge of acceptable donation items
4. Donations Processing/Merchandising
· assists with the unloading of donations from Restore trucks and 3rd party commercial deliveries
· sorts, tests and assembles donated items to determine saleability
· recycles non-saleable goods and packaging according to Restore recycling policies
· research and price goods for resale according to HFHGV’s pricing policies
· logs goods and uploads values to Vonigo work orders
· moves priced and inspected goods from receiving to the sales floor for sale
· follows Restore merchandising guidelines to ensure the store is well presented and shop-able for customers at all times when placing merchandise on the sales floor
5. Health & Safety
· follows all Health and safety Policies and guidelines
· Completes daily/weekly housekeeping task to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the ReStore for associates and customers
6. Volunteer Management
· May be required to provide guidance and assistance to volunteers or participants in community work programs
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Ability to provide friendly, polite and diplomatic service to customers and donors
· Ability to multitask in a busy retail environment
· Enjoys being known for providing superior customer service
· Moderate to heavy repetitive lifting required (50+lbs)
· Spend long periods of time on your feet
· Works a flexible schedule that includes weekdays, weekends and holidays
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum of 1 year of experience in a retail environment
· Experience in a thrift store or nonprofit retail is considered an asset.
· Able to communicate effectively with employees, customers and donors
· Forklift and First Aid certification is an asset
Pay: $18.25-$19.00 per hour
