Job Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Junior Camp Facilitators to support our summer camp programs. This volunteer position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in recreation, programming, events, tutoring, teaching, early childhood education, youth work, or community-based programs. As a Junior Camp Facilitator, you will assist in creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment for young campers while gaining valuable experience in educational and recreational activities. This role is ideal for those passionate about making a positive impact on children's lives and developing skills in teaching and childcare.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead facilitators in planning and implementing camp activities tailored to various age groups
- Support children during educational sessions, recreational games, and arts and crafts projects
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages participation and social interaction among campers
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times by monitoring their behaviour and surroundings
- Help with setting up materials and cleaning up after activities to maintain an organized camp environment
- Promote positive behavior and good communication among campers
Qualifications
- Prior experience or interest in recreation, programming, events, tutoring, teaching, early childhood education, youth work, or community-based programs is preferred.
- Experience working with children in educational or recreational settings is a plus
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage young learners effectively
- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with children of diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team of camp staff and volunteers
- Reliable, responsible, and committed to creating a safe environment for all participants
