Applications are invited for a Professor, Game Development, in the School of Media Studies located at the Welland Campus with duties to commence August 2019.

Reporting to the Associate Dean of the School of Media Studies, this exciting role requires the successful candidate to provide an invitational learning environment to deliver courses in several programs including: BA Game Design and BSc Game Programming (joint programs with Brock University) and Niagara College’s Advanced Diploma in Game Development. The successful candidate will deliver courses in game design, asset creation and production.

The Professor position is responsible for providing academic leadership and developing an effective learning environment for students. This includes designing, revising and updating courses/curriculum; teaching assigned courses; consulting with stakeholders (faculty, community and industry partners); defining course objectives and evaluating student comprehension of objectives; utilizing a variety of instruction medium /resources; and providing individualized instruction where necessary. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Required qualifications include:
Advanced Diploma in Animation, Illustration or Game Design or related field
Five (5) years relevant game experience focusing on game design, digital art creation and production
Experience as a lead game designer
Experience in game related graphics production software
Proven willingness to contribute to a strong team environment and positive work culture
Evidence of commitment to supporting and guiding students towards their successes
Proven ability to deliver course content to a diverse student population
Advanced internal and external networking/relationship building and liaison abilities
Strong oral and written communication, organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills

Preferred candidates may also possess:
Familiarity with Unity game engine software, Adobe CC, 3D Studio Max, Mudbox and Illustrator
Ten (10) years relevant experience to include experience with game programming and production is preferred
Three (3) years previous teaching experience at a post-secondary level / or adult training experience is preferred
Credited on at least 3 published games
Experience as a lead game designer
Experience in curriculum design and development
Practical experience with online learning software and educational LMS applications
