Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mental health settings (related experience such as preceptorships or UNE placements may be considered). Ability to work independently and confidently within a fast paced, highly acute psychiatric care environment. Advanced assessment skills with the ability to recognize, interpret, and respond appropriately to rapid changes in patient status. Strong, adaptable communication skills with the capacity to tailor communication style to meet diverse and complex patient needs. Excellent organizational, time management, and conflict resolution abilities required, essential for maintaining safety and flow in a high acuity setting. Demonstrated dependability and reliability, with consistent follow through in all aspects of practice. Ability to remain objective and grounded when making clinical decisions under pressure. Proactive approach to ongoing learning, including identifying independent learning needs and maintaining current competencies required for intensive psychiatric care.
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of community mental health and addictions resources and programs preferred. Excellent attendance record and personal suitability demonstrated through employment record and references preferred.
