We are looking for a practical, people-focused Health, Safety & Environment Manager to lead safety and environmental programs by building strong systems, coaching leaders, ensuring compliance, and helping ensure everyone goes home safe every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the company’s health, safety, and environmental programs across plant, yard, delivery, and installation operations.
- Develop, maintain, and improve safety policies, procedures, training materials, inspections, and compliance records.
- Lead hazard assessments, workplace inspections, incident investigations, and corrective action follow-up.
- Support orientation, toolbox talks, refresher training, WHMIS, PPE, emergency response, lockout, traffic management, and site-specific training.
- Support Joint Health and Safety Committee activities, including meetings, inspections, recommendations, and recordkeeping.
- Maintain environmental programs related to hazardous materials, waste handling, spill prevention, housekeeping, and environmental incident response.
- Coach supervisors and employees on safe work practices, hazard correction, incident response, and day-to-day safety expectations.
- Track safety and environmental trends, prepare reports for leadership, and recommend practical improvements.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in occupational health and safety, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive health, safety, and environmental experience.
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation would be considered an asset.
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, industrial, or multi-site operations strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements and environmental compliance practices.
- Experience with incident investigations, audits, training, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong communication, coaching, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and safety reporting / documentation systems.
