Overview
We are seeking a friendly and energetic Front of House Team Member to join our dynamic team at our busy café/restaurant. This role is essential in creating a welcoming environment for guests, ensuring smooth service, and maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food service, excellent customer service skills, and experience in fast-paced food industry settings. Previous experience with POS systems such as Aloha or Micros is a plus, along with a background in retail or grocery environments. This position offers an opportunity to develop culinary and hospitality skills while contributing to an enjoyable dining experience for our guests.
Duties
- Greet guests warmly and provide attentive customer service throughout their visit
- Take and process orders accurately using POS systems such as Aloha or Micros
- Prepare simple food items as needed, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards
- Upsell menu items and promote specials to enhance guest experience and increase sales
- Handle cashiering duties including cash handling, processing payments, and giving change
- Maintain cleanliness of the front-of-house area, including bussing tables and sanitizing surfaces
- Assist in food handling, serving, and food preparation tasks as required
- Ensure quick service by managing time efficiently during peak hours
- Support team members in maintaining a clean, organized work environment in compliance with health regulations
Skills
- Previous experience in food service, quick service restaurants, or retail environments is preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha or Micros is advantageous
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with guests
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math, and managing transactions accurately
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely order processing and guest satisfaction
- Experience in upselling menu items and promoting sales effectively
- Basic kitchen experience or culinary background is a plus but not required
