Store Assistant — Farm & Fencing Supplies

About the role
We are seeking a reliable, customer-focused Store Assistant with experience in farm and fencing supplies. The ideal candidate will assist customers, maintain product displays, manage stock, and support daily store operations while demonstrating product knowledge specific to agricultural and fencing materials.
Key responsibilities
- Greet customers, assess needs, and provide knowledgeable product recommendations for farm and fencing supplies (e.g., wire, posts, gates, animal feed products).
- Process sales transactions, returns, and special orders accurately using POS systems.
- Maintain organized, attractive merchandising and shelving; rotate stock and ensure correct labeling and pricing.
- Receive, inspect, and store incoming deliveries; complete inventory counts and report discrepancies.
- Assist with loading/unloading heavy items and operate manual handling equipment safely (with training).
- Provide basic after‑sales support and troubleshooting for common fencing and farm product issues.
- Maintain a clean, safe store environment and comply with health, safety, and loss-prevention procedures.
- Support promotional activities and in-store events as needed.
- Communicate product needs and customer feedback to management.
Required qualifications & experience
- Proven experience working with farm and fencing supplies (retail, wholesale, or field experience) — minimum 1–2 years preferred.
- Familiarity with common fencing materials, installation basics, and agricultural product categories.
- Comfortable handling physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving bulky items.
- Basic numeracy and experience using POS and inventory systems.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and peak seasonal periods.
Preferred
- Prior retail or hardware store experience.
- Forklift or pallet jack certification (if applicable).
- Basic knowledge of livestock handling or agricultural operations.

Pay: $19.00-$23.00 per hour
