A self-motivated individual with exceptional analytical and interpersonal skills will excel in this position. The successful candidate will report to the Manager, Case Costing and External Reporting.
As the Case Costing Advisor you will:
Manage and maintain the case costing system (ADS) including set up, maintain case costing methodology in compliance with the Ontario Case Costing (OCC) standards.
Be responsible for working with clinical departments to ensure the accurate and timely acquisition, reconciliation and validation of data.
Develop case costing reports using SAS programing, Crystal and other reporting solutions.
Ensure the OCC submission to the Ministry is in accordance with provincial standards.
Collaborate with team members in Finance, Decision Support, and HIM as well as other key stakeholders to ensure data integrity between financial, statistical and clinical data.
Manage changes to business process rules and promote continuous process improvement.
Coordinate, analyze and interpret case costing data as required by both internal and external stakeholders.
Provide education and training on Case Costing
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in a health related field or applied health–clinical informatics and or equivalent experience
A minimum of 3-5 years related work experience with Case Costing and MIS reporting in a healthcare environment
Understanding and appropriate application of Ontario Case Costing (OCC) Standards and Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS) are required.
Strong computer skills including MS office. Experience and/or knowledge of SQL, Crystal Reports and SAS programing an asset
Knowledge with MIS/OHRS guidelines and CIHI grouping methodologies (e.g. CMG’s, HIGs, weighted cases, the Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), the National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS), NRS etc.. Knowledge and understanding of workload measurement concepts are preferred.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast pace environment
Work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a work team
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Detailed oriented an asset
