One of our clients is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to join a leading bakery manufacturing operation in Calgary. This role plays a key part in ensuring food safety, product quality, and full regulatory compliance across all stages of production.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in bakery or food manufacturing environments and a strong background in food safety systems and audit management.
Responsibilities
Food Safety & Compliance
- Maintain and continuously improve HACCP, GMP, and GFSI-based food safety systems
- Ensure compliance with Canadian food safety regulations and customer requirements
- Maintain audit readiness for BRC, SQF, and regulatory inspections
Quality Assurance & Production Oversight
- Oversee quality control across all production stages (mixing, baking, cooling, packaging)
- Monitor critical parameters such as temperature, humidity, ingredient accuracy, and specifications
- Ensure consistent product quality (taste, texture, appearance, shelf life)
Audits & Documentation
- Lead internal and external audits and manage corrective actions
- Maintain QA documentation, traceability systems, and performance reports
- Implement and track CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions)
Continuous Improvement
- Investigate complaints, deviations, and non-conformances
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and product quality
Leadership & Training
- Train and coach QA and production teams on food safety and hygiene
- Collaborate with production, procurement, and operations teams
- Promote a strong food safety culture
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, Food Technology, or related field
· 2–5 years of QA/QC experience in bakery or food manufacturing
· Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, BRC, or SQF standards
· Experience leading audits and compliance programs
· Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills
· Experience in large-scale or industrial bakery operations preferred
· Familiarity with regulatory and third-party audits
Pay: $65,000.00-$82,000.00 per year
