We're working with a growing e-commerce company looking for a Financial Reporting Manager to become a key pillar of their finance function, a fully remote, with real ownership and visibility at the leadership level.
This isn't a seat-warmer position. The Financial Reporting Manager will own the full financial reporting cycle; from month-end close to inventory accounting to internal controls, and will be a trusted voice providing leadership with the insights needed to drive smart, strategic decisions. Financial Reporting
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Lead full month-end and year-end close processes
- Complete account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Maintain general ledger integrity, including oversight of journal entries
- Deliver monthly variance analysis and financial commentary to leadership
- Compile management reports and executive summaries
- Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards
Controls & Compliance
- Establish and maintain internal financial controls and documentation
- Ensure adherence to Canadian accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Support external accountants and auditors during audits and reviews
- Assist with tax reporting and compliance coordination
- Identify financial risks and recommend process improvements
Planning & Analysis
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities
- Assist with cash flow planning and working capital management
- Analyze margins, operating costs, and expense trends
- Build financial models to support decision-making
- Provide insights to support strategic planning
Inventory Management
- Oversee inventory accounting, valuation, and reconciliations
- Ensure accurate tracking of costs, including landed costs, freight, and COGS
- Collaborate with operations to align physical inventory counts with financial records
- Monitor inventory metrics such as turnover, aging, and shrinkage
- Maintain strong internal controls over inventory processes
- Prepare regular inventory reports and valuation schedules
- Active Canadian CPA designation (required)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial reporting experience
- Background in e-commerce, retail, or inventory-driven businesses
- Strong knowledge of inventory and cost accounting principles
- Proven track record managing full close cycles (month-end and year-end)
- Solid understanding of Canadian accounting standards
- High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and self-manage in a remote environment
Technical Skills
- Experience with accounting systems
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with inventory systems and e-commerce platforms
