B&W Garage Doors is hiring an experienced Garage Door Technician for immediate full-time work out in Edmonton.
We run a high-volume operation - 130+ garage jobs a month across Calgary, Edmonton and their surrounding towns - and we need a tech who can take a van and run service calls independently: springs, cables, openers, and emergency stuck-door calls come in all day, every day.
Pay is commission only - a percentage of every job you run, negotiated based on experience, with no cap on earnings.
Responsibilities:
- Replace broken torsion and extension springs (our #1 job — we stock 2" springs on the vans)
- Replace snapped lifting cables with premade cable sets; re-seat cables off drums
- Free stuck doors fast — including car-trapped emergencies where the door is jammed part-way
- Correct crooked, uneven, and off-track doors; repair bent panels and damaged bottom brackets
- Troubleshoot and repair garage door openers — power issues, remotes, keypads, logic boards, safety sensors
- Install new openers (LiftMaster chain and belt drive units) and program remotes, keypads, and myQ/smart setups
- Replace rollers, hinges, bottom seals, retainers, and weather stripping
- Perform tune-ups on noisy, squeaking, and clunky doors — lubrication, adjustment, spring tensioning
- Handle warranty callbacks and re-service visits professionally
Required Experience:
- Hands-on torsion and extension spring replacement — able to do it solo, safely
- Cable replacement and drum work
- Opener troubleshooting and installation
- Comfortable servicing older doors (15–25+ years old), not just new installs
- Ability to work independently and manage your own route and day
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Professional attitude - you’ll deal with homeowners, landlords, tenants, and family calling on behalf of relatives
Preferred Experience:
- LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Wayne Dalton, Craftsman, and Genie product knowledge
- myQ / smart opener programming
- Spring system conversions (torque-master to standard torsion)
- Commercial door experience is an asset
Pay: $60,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
