Full-time Parking Control Officer Shift Lead
Reports To
Manager, Parking Services

$24.85/hour
Main Purpose and Scope
Support day-to-day operation of multiple parking facilities at various on-campus and off-site locations. Provide direction and guidance to full-time and part-time staff for day-to-day operations, schedules, and assignments. Operate parking systems, provide access control to parking lots, control on-campus traffic and parking enforcement. As well, allocate staff assignments and activities.
Deliver customer service in a respectful, professional, and polite manner when responding to inquiries from operational staff, the campus community, and visitors, aligned with department policies, procedures, and parking regulations. Demonstrate the core values of teamwork, accountability, integrity, respect, and trust.
Duties and Responsibilities
Communicate with colleagues, students, campus partners, and the external community in a respectful, polite, and professional manner.
Ability to handle fast-paced working conditions.
Provide support and instructions to operational staff for assigned tasks connected to day-to-day operations.
Coordinate activities associated with events, projects, or maintenance work related to parking.
Provide administrative support functions related to campus activities, staff assignments, and system issues that interfere with or disrupt access control or parking.
Troubleshoot automation system issues that interfere with or disrupt access control or parking.
Record and track parking system issues through work orders and technical service requests.
Collaborate with the parking administration department and other parking facility users.
Understand and apply parking regulations.
Compile inventory reports for supplies and tools used to maintain systems and equipment.
Monitor, report, and document the condition of surface and underground parking facilities, including lighting, asphalt condition, pavement markings, signage, maintenance work, and snow removal.
Perform day-to-day parking operations tasks including:
Managing parking lot capacity limits
Controlling vehicle traffic at parking access points
Issuing parking violations for contraventions of parking regulations
Responding to intercom calls
Addressing customer concerns while adhering to parking policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience in parking operations or a related field.
Strong communication skills demonstrating patience, active listening, and positive language when dealing with customers.
Organizational skills to manage various systems.
Interpersonal skills to support conflict resolution and excellent oral and written communication.
Flexibility to adapt to a changing work environment.
Working Conditions
Must work assigned shifts according to operational needs, including ongoing rotational shifts during the regular work week and occasional weekends as required.
Able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Physical Requirements
Required to remain stationary and/or move as needed for the duration of job assignments.
Perform repetitive tasks including answering intercoms, using a computer keyboard and mouse, watching monitors, writing tickets, and directing traffic.
Lift equipment including pylons, portable signs, boxes, and gate arms.
