About this opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Prepress & Creative Services, this position is required to support the print output activities associated with the Digital Print business for Large Format Printing.
What you will do
· Build accurate prepress ready artwork in an efficient and timely manner;
· Edit high resolution images in Photoshop;
· Follow client brand style guides and maintain consistent files;
· Make logical and creative decisions when working on complex layouts;
· Communicate effectively with supervisor, customers, co-workers, account managers and all preproduction personnel;
· Read and understand job requirements before beginning assembly process;
· Load any customer supplied electronic files for output onto the file server;
· Check customer’s electronic files for completeness and potential problems;
· Identify missing or problematic components and communicate them to the CSR/Prepress Manager;
· Ensure all jobs are marked correctly for size and colour;
· Output lasers for internal approval, perform quality control checks on final output documents and follow all procedures outlined in the TC QMS system;
· Provide technical advice, support and participate and assist in on-going training as needed;
· Perform all other duties as requested by Management in order to help the team effort;
· Work overtime as required;
· Work as part of a team, follow and adhere to Transcontinental’s code of ethics and participate in the Continuous Improvements efforts;
· Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act of Ontario, the Workplace Safety Insurance Act and all other applicable legislated environmental, health & safety regulations;
· Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards.
What you have to offer
· Post-Secondary education in graphic arts along with a minimum two (2) years experience in graphic arts industry specific to large format digital print (LFD) or production art;
· Thorough understanding of various substrates and their uses in relation to LFD equipment and production;
· Strong knowledge of print processes and the direct affect to the artwork;
· Expert skills in Adobe CC;
· A positive attitude and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment;
· Highly organized, creative and logical thinker;
· Ability to find creative solutions for complex layouts while adhering to client style guides;
· Experience with both Macintosh and PC (Windows) computer platforms and all relevant design software;
· Thorough understanding of PDF workflow;
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as dockets and procedure manuals;
· Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and employees.
