We are looking for Assistant Department Managers (Grocery or Produce) to join our growing store teams! A typical day for the Assistant Department Manager includes supporting the Department Manager in opening and closing tasks for the department, conducting inventory and quality checks, and ensuring product displays are well-stocked and organized. Throughout the day, you will help customers with product assistance and support staff training. The day ends with updating inventory and preparing the department for the next day. Strong leadership and problem-solving skills are essential to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Department Support & Staff Training
- Support the Department Manager in daily department operations, including ensuring all shelves are fully stocked, well-organized, and visually appealing to customers.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, securing department equipment and preparing for the next day.
- Help ensure that all products are correctly labeled and priced, including promotional and seasonal items.
- Address customer concerns and provide exceptional service, escalating complex issues to the Department Manager as needed.
- Help lead and train the department team in stocking, rotation, and display setup to ensure product freshness and quality.
- Assist in training staff on product knowledge and customer service standards.
Inventory & Sales Assistance
- Support the ordering and receiving of products, assisting with quality checks and storage organization.
- Help monitor inventory levels, ensuring sufficient stock while minimizing waste.
- Collaborate with the Department Manager on sales strategies, promotional activities, and merchandising techniques to boost sales.
- Assist with analyzing sales data and trends to recommend improvements in product assortment and display.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience produce or grocery retail management.
- Familiarity with merchandising and inventory management.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality control processes.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work well in a team.
- A customer-oriented mindset with the ability to provide excellent service.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion.
- Possession of a valid Food Safe Certificate is strongly preferred.
