Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice (2nd Year or Higher)
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice who is at least in their second year of apprenticeship or higher. This role offers hands-on experience in fire protection systems installation and maintenance, providing valuable skills in plumbing, rigging, welding, and blueprint reading. The apprentice will work closely with experienced technicians to develop technical expertise and contribute to safety-compliant sprinkler system installations across various projects. Duties
- Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of sprinkler systems according to blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer specifications
- Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment (MIG and TIG welding) to assemble and install piping and sprinkler components
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate system layout
- Perform rigging tasks to lift and position heavy piping or equipment safely
- Conduct basic measurements using calipers and perform calculations involving basic math for precise fitting
- Support the testing and inspection of sprinkler systems to ensure compliance with safety standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment adhering to safety protocols
- Collaborate with team members on project timelines, material handling, and troubleshooting
Qualifications
- Minimum of second-year apprenticeship or higher as a Sprinkler Fitter or related trade
- Experience or familiarity with MIG welding, TIG welding, plumbing, HVAC, or manufacturing environments is preferred
- Knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, mechanical systems, and schematic diagrams
- Proficiency with hand tools, calipers, basic math skills, and rigging techniques
- Strong mechanical knowledge with an understanding of maintenance procedures
- Ability to read technical schematics related to sprinkler systems and plumbing
- Excellent teamwork skills with a focus on safety and quality standards
- Prior experience in construction or industrial maintenance is advantageous
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments requiring lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
