The Environmental II duties range from light dusting to heavy cleaning all surface areas, including walls, ceilings, vents, mirrors, windows, door and light fixtures throughout the site. This position performs floor maintenance duties including dry and wet mopping, floor scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and shampooing. The Environmental II ensures that adequate supplies in patient care, offices, and staff areas are available. The transportation and arranging of heavy furniture and equipment using dollies, carts, or manually may be required to perform these duties. This position will comply with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and other safety and infection control regulations, policies, and procedures.
As an Environmental II, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with intensive or specialized cleaning within a hospital or facility associated with industrial cleaning supplies and by using powered industrial equipment. Your typical duties may include operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance, thorough washing of ceilings and windows and emptying hazardous waste. You may also provide training/orientation to Environmental staff.

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Knowledge and operation of a computer including Microsoft Office. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform repetitive movements for the duration of your shift. Physically capable to lift, push and pull up to 30 lbs of force.
Additional Required Qualifications:
General knowledge of cleaning techniques and methods required. Good interpersonal skills required. Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written format. Able to perform frequent physical demands which include bending, climbing ladders, mopping and use of power cleaning equipment on a regular basis.
Completion of a basic housekeeping program is an asset.
