We are seeking a detail-oriented Architectural Metals Estimator with a minimum of 2 years of estimating experience in the architectural metals industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for architectural metal projects, including ACM panels, metal siding, soffits, roofing systems, custom sheet metal, and related building envelope products.
This position requires strong analytical skills, the ability to interpret construction documents, and excellent communication with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal project teams.
Responsibilities
- Analyze architectural, structural, and specification documents using Bluebeam and other estimating tools to develop a complete understanding of the project scope.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for architectural metal systems.
- Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, and missing information, and prepare Requests for Information (RFIs) as required.
- Solicit pricing from suppliers and manufacturers by preparing and issuing Requests for Pricing (RFPs).
- Prepare accurate estimates for materials, labour, equipment, freight, and subcontracted work.
- Review addenda, revised drawings, and change documents, updating estimates accordingly.
- Identify and develop Value Engineering (VE) options to improve project competitiveness while maintaining performance requirements.
- Attend and lead scope review meetings with clients, consultants, and general contractors to clarify project requirements.
- Prepare comprehensive bid packages, including detailed quotation letters outlining project scope, inclusions, exclusions, material selections, and pricing.
- Coordinate with project management and drafting teams during bid preparation.
- Maintain organized estimating records and cost databases.
- Meet tender deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Required
- Minimum 2 years of estimating experience in Architectural Metals.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) panel systems
- Metal siding
- Custom sheet metal
- Soffits and fascia
- Metal roofing systems
- Building envelope assemblies
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and shop drawings.
- Experience using Bluebeam Revu for quantity takeoffs and drawing review.
- Strong understanding of construction specifications and tender documents.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet deadlines.
Preferred
- Diploma or Degree in Construction Engineering, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, Building Science, or a related field.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of Canadian construction practices and tendering procedures.
- Experience with building envelope systems is considered an asset.
