Duties and responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Program Manager and Program Senior Supervisor, the Support Worker will assist individual(s) experiencing disability with individualized supports to help them achieve their independent living skills goals and increase their self-support skills.
Duties include:

Teaching daily living skills (e.g., housework, budgeting, cooking, interpersonal relations and/or personal care issues)

Assisting with interactions involving community professionals (e.g., doctors, landlords, social workers, etc.)
-
Finding meaningful activities
-
Assisting the client in managing socially appropriate behaviours
-
Providing personal care support as required
-
Documenting client progress and reporting regularly to the Program Senior Supervisor

Driving clients using a personal vehicle and willingness to travel within the rural community
Qualifications:
Education:
-
Disability or Rehabilitation Support Worker Certificate and/or related training and experience
-
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ongoing access to a reliable vehicle
-
Valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or willingness to obtain within three months
-
Additional courses such as TLR and PART would be considered an asset
Experience:
-
One year experience in related field
-
Experience supporting individuals through Supported Independent Living Program (SILP) services or similar community-based programs would be considered an asset.

Open minded, creative, and resourceful approach to supporting individuals

Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work effectively with individuals experiencing disabilities, co-workers and community partners
