Overview
G. Visser & Sons is seeking an organized, customer-focused Potato Sales & Inventory Manager to coordinate potato sales, inventory, customer orders, and product movement throughout the year.
The successful candidate will work closely with customers and internal teams to monitor inventory, forecast demand, assist with pricing, and ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
This position combines office-based sales and administrative work with coordination across storage, packing, and shipping operations.
The role requires timely communication with customers and flexibility to assist them outside normal working hours, especially during periods of increased workload.
Duties
Sales & Customer Management
· Manage and maintain relationships with existing customers.
· Communicate regularly with customers regarding product availability, pricing, orders, and delivery requirements.
· Coordinate customer orders and ensure requirements are clearly communicated to the packing and operations teams.
· Assist with sales planning and pricing decisions.
· Identify potential sales opportunities and support the development of new customer relationships.
· Respond to customer inquiries and resolve order-related issues.
Inventory Management & Planning
· Monitor potato inventory throughout the storage season.
· Maintain accurate records of available inventory by variety, size, quality, and storage location.
· Coordinate inventory movement based on customer demand and product condition.
· Work with the agronomy, storage, and quality teams to understand crop quality and marketability.
· Help determine the best allocation of inventory to customers and markets.
· Monitor inventory levels to reduce product loss and maximize sales opportunities.
Sales Forecasting
· Prepare sales and inventory forecasts based on customer demand and available product.
· Monitor sales volumes and inventory movement throughout the year.
· Compare actual sales against forecasts and adjust plans as required.
· Provide management with regular updates on inventory, sales commitments, and expected product movement.
Order & Logistics Coordination
· Coordinate with packing and shipping teams to ensure customer orders are prepared on time.
· Assist with scheduling shipments and transportation.
· Communicate delivery requirements and changes with customers, carriers, and internal teams.
· Maintain accurate records of orders, shipments, and inventory movement.
· Help resolve scheduling, inventory, or transportation issues as they arise.
Reporting & Administration
· Maintain accurate sales, inventory, pricing, and customer records.
· Prepare regular sales and inventory reports for management.
· Use spreadsheets and internal systems to track inventory, orders, forecasts, and product movement.
· Support management with sales and inventory analysis.
· Ensure customer information and sales documentation are accurate and up to date.
Education/Qualifications
· Experience in agriculture, produce, sales, logistics, inventory management, customer service, or supply chain is considered an asset.
· Experience working with customers and coordinating orders is preferred.
· Knowledge of the potato or fresh produce industry is beneficial but not required.
· Willingness to learn about potato production, storage, packing, quality, and markets.
