Overview
We are seeking a Licensed Industrial Mechanic to support the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and relocation of industrial equipment in shop and field-service environments. The successful candidate will be a hands-on mechanical professional capable of working independently, reading technical documentation, diagnosing mechanical failures and completing work safely to a high industrial standard.
The role is especially suited to a millwright with experience working around compressed-air systems, diesel-powered equipment, generators, pumps, rotating equipment, pressure-system components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and machinery installation projects.
Duties
- Install, assemble, dismantle, relocate, level, align and commission industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on production, utility and field-service equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical faults using drawings, schematics, OEM manuals, operating data and hands-on inspection.
- Service and repair industrial air compressors, including rotary-screw and reciprocating compressor packages and related mechanical systems.
- Support service and maintenance of diesel-powered equipment and engines used in industrial packages and field applications.
- Work on generator packages and associated mechanical systems, including couplings, mounts, guards, bearings, shafts and driven equipment.
- Inspect, repair and replace pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, seals, shafts, couplings, belts, pulleys and other rotating-equipment components.
- Diagnose and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, actuators, valves, lines, regulators and mechanical control components.
- Support mechanical piping, compressed-air piping and pressure-system component installation where within the millwright scope of work.
- Perform precision shaft and equipment alignment using appropriate mechanical and/or laser-alignment methods.
- Complete machinery rigging, load preparation, lifting coordination and positioning in cooperation with qualified crane or hoisting personnel as required.
- Perform field service, shutdown work, emergency repairs, startup assistance and post-installation performance verification at customer sites.
- Identify worn or failed components, recommend repair/replacement actions and document findings clearly for supervisors and customers.
- Maintain safe work areas, tools and service equipment and follow site-specific procedures, permits and lockout requirements.
Experience
- Valid Ontario Industrial Mechanic Millwright 433A Certificate of Qualification (Preferred).
- Strong industrial mechanical troubleshooting, maintenance and installation capability.
- Approximately 5-10 years preferred (or 3-5 years of relevant industrial experience; equivalent high-quality experience will be considered).
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, equipment layouts, schematics, service manuals and OEM technical documentation.
- Practical experience with precision alignment, machinery installation, fasteners, bearings, seals, shafts and rotating equipment.
- Working knowledge of rigging practices, lifting plans, load control and safe machinery positioning.
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence and reliable transportation; ability to travel to customer sites as required.
- Ability to work safely in industrial environments and comply with PPE, permit, lockout and customer-site requirements.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
