Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Manager – Direct to Consumer, the Direct to Consumer Sales Representative is responsible to actively promote and sell all of Tbaytel’s solutions primarily to residential customers in Tbaytel’s serving territory with the goal of meeting or exceeding customer expectations. Within a team environment, the Direct to Consumer Sales Representative is responsible to achieve sales targets, retain and grow revenue and practice Tbaytel’s basic principles and values.
Major Responsibilities
- Achieves or exceeds sales goals as defined by individual key performance indicators, Direct to Consumer team targets, annual performance builder objectives, and overall corporate strategic initiatives.
- Executes direct marketing/sales initiatives and project plans; including but not limited to targeted promotional marketing campaigns/strategies, community outreach events, in-home or in-business peer-to-peer interactions, interactive social media marketing, direct mail strategies, and outbound calling. Activities can be completed independently or in conjunction with other Tbaytel Sales Channels including Authorized Sales Partners, Tbaytel Retail Store and Business Sales.
- Regularly inputs/maintains data to accurately report on sales opportunities, new account development, customer activity, progress towards achieving sales goals, and competitive information.
- Establishes face-to-face sales and service calls and uncovers customer requirements through a well-defined needs analysis.
- Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of Tbaytel solutions sold to Residential and Business customers including Internet, Telephone, Mobility, and Digital TV service. Identifies the need for Residential or Commercial Security solutions, and generates leads to subject matter experts within the Direct to Consumer or Business Sales team.
- Collaborates with inter-departmental and 3rd party partners to achieve team results, launch new initiatives, deliver an exceptional customer experience, and contribute to inter-departmental and overall corporate success.
- Pursues and identifies areas to increase sales through additional products/services and creates leads when appropriate.
- Participates in the planning/implementing of the departmental sales and marketing plans as well as in the compilation of individual sales and gross profit forecasting processes.
- Responds to internal and external customer requests upon receipt. Facilitates productive relationships with key internal contacts and departments (in conjunction with the Manager – Direct to Consumer) to ensure responsibilities are delegated accordingly and projects are initiated, coordinated and implemented to meet customer needs.
- Implements, executes and provides constructive feedback on all related marketing campaigns and sales promotions. Follows up on qualified sales leads as provided.
- Maintains a thorough and current database of existing and prospective customers including the entering of detailed customer related notes and sales strategies in Tbaytel’s CRM tool.
- Maintains a high profile in the community and represent Tbaytel at various functions and events.
- Performs sales functions with strategic, large, medium, and small size business customers as required.
- Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of and complies with all legislation and Tbaytel policies relevant to the position and the duties performed.
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Completed post-secondary education in a related field.
- Three years of sales experience in a target sales driven environment.
- Aptitude for sales; tenacious, self-motivated.
- Proficiency in the use of various computer software programs, such as email, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Excellent time management, problem solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed post-secondary degree or diploma in business or marketing.
- Previous experience in a sales role within the telecommunications industry.
- Ability to communicate via American Sign Language (ASL)
Conditions of Employment
- Must successfully undergo a satisfactory criminal records check.
- Required to be available for emergency calls per a rotating schedule with other departments.
- Must hold and maintain a valid Driver’s License and current satisfactory Driver’s Abstract (determined by COTB Fleet). Use of a personal vehicle may be required.
- Out of town travel is required.
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule

A Criminal Records Check is a CRC which searches the National repository for criminal records in Canada via the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC). It also identifies pending criminal code charges and outstanding warrants.
